The Night Garden - A new image from our book Magical Landscapes Secret Places.
A few festive images from our home in the Highlands. This year we decided to have an alternative Christmas Tree, made from drift wood collected at the northern end of Loch Ness. Washed up on the shores at Dores Beach after one of the heavy storms in 2015.
This image was taken mid morning on Tuesday 12th December 2017. We had returned home to the Highlands the previous evening to discover a heavy snow had fallen earlier in the day. Everything was covered in a perfect blanket of white and looked very beautiful. The following morning we took this picture - just a few hundred metres from our home - showing the River Tarff, as the first snow of the year started to melt.
We spotted these tiny creatures a couple of months ago. We’re not sure what they arthere’re definitely not field mice, they don’t have tails. They move at lightening speed and they’ve already made little indentations in the grass. We think they’ve set up home under the garden shed and so far we’ve counted 4 or 5. We’re sort of hoping we don’t count too many more, but they're so cute and lots of fun to watch.
PS We’re keeping an eye out for our local feral cat, in case it decides to make an impromptu appearance around their play times, when it's feeling a tweet peckish!!!!!
